Spaceship rental has acquired a third completely separate and disjointed plot thread, and while I know where to put scene 3.1 in the order, and it's nice that I have that to come in play in the back half, I am tearing my head out right now with scene ordering. (It is easier to do it in outline before one has written the whole damn thing.)

I foresee playing around with pieces of paper on a corkboard. Argh.

It is an excellent idea, but it's coming into a fic that already has a lot of things planned, and ARGH. At least I might be able to use it as a reprieve from bureaucracy?

(The different strands also have much less dependence on each other than usual in my plots. This makes scene arrangement harder due to the increased degrees of freedom, but at least I'll probably learn something from it.)

Having different sections to switch between is always good to keep things moving. <3

Having put up everything on a pinboard, I think that my general structure is one that starts with the main plot and then fans out a bit to include first White Thumbtacks Thread (with a slow release/long payoff), then Red Thumbtacks and Blue Thumbtacks Threads. Red has a resolution (but could do with some post-climax dénouement and fluff scenes), White still needs one, and Blue is more entangled with Red and Main, but does need more scenes at the end and some sort of resolution, though that'd be easy enough to arrange, given the main plotline. Hmm...

*chinhands in fascination* I don't think I've ever written anything complicated enough for pinboards and multiple threads. Sounds like you things in hand, though. <3

This is the first time I've needed them! It's sort of exciting in a way.
