Legend of Yunze
I watched s1 and s2 of Legend of Yunze (links to engsubs) and I am emotionally compromised by the ending. The seasons are both self-contained stories, ~1h each, and it's censored GL. Both leads are stunning. Had I been A-Ze, falling down naked on Jiang Zhaoyun, I too would've been desperately clingy and attempted to flirt ineptly. I liked how both of them had hidden backstory and how Zhaoyun's was handled. S1 was a bit breakneck and felt a touch disjointed as a result, but S2 was a marked improvement. The ending is sort of bittersweet, but in a way that leaves space for a third season as well as a plot hook for it.
I downloaded it for potential vidding purposes but that means I need to either a) carefully clip around the subtitles, b) zoom, or c) learn how to use Clean Credits. Urghhh.
Looking at the fansubber's Twitter, I also need to go through the lesbian short films list and see which ones are subbed. Next on my list is Nü Er Hong, which promises both a fucked-up relationship and a happy ending.

Oh, gosh, is there a way to clean subtitles???!!! Good to know--I can usually get raws/English dubs for most of the media I want to work with, but sometimes it just isn't possible and it would be good to have a workaround in those instances. I did eventually cave and make a handful of CQL vids with the hard-coded subtitles anyway, because that was what I had in the moment, but I'm not proud of it. (It was still better than not making them, but they were not the quality I prefer and at some point I need to go back and fix them.)
Clipping around them is possible, depending on the shot(s) you want (since lipflap is usually the least interesting part of a scene from a vidding perspective) but it doesn't always work out and it makes the process 1000% more complicated. I had not thought of using zoom to get around them, but that's a good idea if I can figure out how to do that in Premiere.
PS: Thanks for the media rec, this show sounds interesting and I'll check it out!

I got the zoom idea from a Guardian vid
