Fandom Snowflake #8 (Recs!)

Today's challenge is reccing fanworks! It's time to share stuff! Let's start with four recs for Guardian (TV) stories:
Back to the Middle (series) by china_shop. This is a series of wonderful time travel fixit fics, and it engages with the concept of time travel in character-typical ways. (Each installment has a different POV character.) The standouts to me are Lin Jing's and Ye Zun's installments, though all of them are excellent takes.

The Dixing-Haixing Cultural Exchange Program (series) by draconicsockpuppet. This is a cool Space Opera AU of Guardian, with nice kabooms, a fast-paced action plot, and very hot porn. (See installment #3.)

Flesh from Bone, Soul from Flesh by ratbones. This is an amazing canonverse casefic that went appropriately dark and visceral.

Unrealistic Expectations by Anonymous. This is hot porn with excellent characterization.

One reference:
Liang primer by ofsevenseas. This is a primer for stuff relevant to the setting of Nirvana in Fire, but some parts will no doubt be useful to anyone else writing fic for things set in ancient China.

And some odds and ends:
Madame by Mooselk. This is an excellent character study of Yu Ziyuan as she is in the book. (IDK how it'll land on people who are drama- or donghua-based; both of them seem to have made her meaner.)

Control by garrideb. This is a damn good fanvid for the comic Monstress.

Thanks for the rec :3 I'm groggily poking through the Liang primer out of curiosity, and kind of dying over all of the geese involved in getting hitched. Nothing says commitment like HONK!

...HEA: the person being proposed to is also three geese in a trenchcoat? (And accepts the proposal with a polytone honk, as is meet.)

Perfect. The Six-Goose Wedding: A Picture Book. (...The part where the geese maybe murdered the original suitor is of questionable appropriateness for children, I guess.) (wait, this is just the plot of Shrek but with geese and murder. which is to say, improved)

We can just declare that the original suitor (and bride?) were thrown into the lake. The picture book can either not comment on their fate or show them fishing each other out of the lake and getting married without the presence of geese. Meanwhile, the geese have inherited the lands and decreed that everyone should feed the geese.

And so the reign of terror begins. :D
