Vidding Year in Review

extrapenguinSlightly delayed by the fact that I only published 3 vids last year, even if I did finish a fourth and have a fifth only in need of like 10 seconds of clip. Anyway.
...Actually, let me publish the fourth one real quick. I vidded it last summer so I'll have it count here. So! Here's the 2025 published vids:

Is There Anybody Out There? is somewhat obviously vidded in a fit of deadline panic and could've done with another two weeks to add some more clips and both increase and slightly vary the speed of cutting. (Especially since it's the first vid in the vid album and will then immediately be followed by Reincarnation.)
Most successful vid
Is There Anybody Out There? – the Fox Volant vids have like 3 hits each, and Wide Awake was posted while I was writing this post. :'D
Vid most under-appreciated by the universe
Return to the Sea was not part of any event or con and thus did not get any comments or feedback in any form.
Most fun vid
Sister Moon is nicely bouncy and editing the fight scene sections was fun!
Video with the single sexiest moment
Yuan Ziyi is very hot during her fight scenes, so Sister Moon.
Hardest vid to make
Hmm. None of them were particularly hard? Perhaps My Loss, since the source had hardsubs, and they were more annoying for my vidding here than with Sister Moon.
Most unintentionally telling vid
IDEK. Perhaps Sister Moon – bouncy, snappy cuts, motion, woman centric – but this year there wasn't anything that was significantly more telling than the others.
Things I've learned
Try to induce deadline panic earlier? IDK. Also I find vidding for a community to be more inspiring than vidding into the void, hence my general lack of vids +
2025 plan review

- Rey Palpatine? No
- Intrusion Into × Centuries? No
- full-length The Wind That Shapes the Land? No
- Still Alive sequel? No
- baihe source vid? No
- TiK ToK fight scene vid? I did make a fight scene-ish vid (Sister Moon)
Big fat 0. Not that unexpected, given the creative drought and more long-term goals.
Vid plans for 2026
I think I'll just carry over some stuff from last year
- a Rey Palpatine vid about rejecting legacies/(grand)daughters hating (grand)fathers. Considered Mortalitas Part IV: From Beneath You It Devours by Nemesea and Show Me the Way by Elis, but probably need a better song for this to happen. Gotta go through the new music in my library. Even if I think that there would be some cool motion matches between Palps's RotS fight and Rey's TFA fight/possibly other ones too
- I will disappear up my own ass and make a vid to Centuries by Fall Out Boy, with the visual source being my very own comic Intrusion Into (...urghhh I need to redo the image hosting, eurgh) and idk screencaps/quotes from the Sandia Labs report on Expert Judgment on Markers to Deter Inadvertent Human Intrusion into the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (possibly including their rad art as well).
- back for thevexercises 2022 round, I made a 1:04 pechakucha for SWTOR to The Wind That Shapes the Land by Unleash the Archers. I dream of making a full-length vid. All in pechakucha format (6s clips from the source). All 8:36 of song. I love pain!
- finish Free Me (it needs like. 8s. I just need to decide what those 8s should contain...)
- at least one more song for the Rey vid album (probably either Dancing in the Dark (lightsaber light show) or I Remember Dying (Tatooine scenes only), mayyyybe Not in Our Name (Rey as a part of the Rebellion), only have half an idea for Winter is Coming and Raise Your Head, still need an idea for Into the Light)
