due to being cast as comic relief alien, doesn't get any of the het dude tropes and even communicates with his love interest(!!!!) so it sidesteps a lot
That is true, I probably should have expected that. What I actually expected was that he'd be ridiculed more and the whole relationship would be comic relief all the way, and that didn't happen.
I don't think there are any major relapses in the last three eps. There is one scene in the last ep where all the men talk/joke about their relationships, which is terribly insensitive, and which I could have done without. But otherwise, the relationship itself stays okay, imho.
