The thing about growing up is that I keep encountering things that I sorta vaguely recall from my childhood and then going holy fuck that makes so much sense. This goes for both behaviors stemming from Asperger's and various things that have happened to me (accidental equine therapy from an AS obsession with horses). Retroactive foreshadowing of a sort.
Another thing is that, as my experience has grown and my horizons have broadened, I’ve grown more interested in the world around me. The world isn't permanent and unchanging; my actions as a voter, scientist, activist, whatever can change it. It is a system I can affect and thus I must affect it.
Like everyone else I am a work in progress, but now I can remember what it was like – what I was like – before the realizations, so the change seems larger.
