People have several types of name: the míng (presented first, if known), the zì (courtesy name; disyllabic, in brackets after the míng if that is known), and the hào (title/pseudonym/art name/etc), which is 3 to 4 syllables long. This is mostly for entertainment value plus reference to self; my Chinese is far from good enough to be of use beyond using the dictionary like a pro.
