The first line of the first fic from each month meme, via [personal profile] starandrea and [personal profile] trobadora, because everyone is doing it.

January
It was a good view, Zhao Yunlan thought. Not the best one - there were a number of buildings in the way - but they could see the fireworks well enough. And the darkness had few enough people that he could hold hands with Shen Wei while they sat on the grass.
(Recollections, 8.1.)

February
"Oh, how pretty!" Ye Xiaoqi exclaimed.
(Prettier than the Rivers, 1.2.)

March
"You know, Lan Zhan, don't you think we should face off?" Wei Wuxian said. "After all, our first battle on the eaves, I was too busy preserving the wine to fight properly."
(Caught Red-Handed, 4.3.)

April
“Uh... Professor Zhou? Aren't labs supposed to be indoors?” Li Qian asked.
(The Future Pester Pink, 4.4.)

May
Zhao Yunlan stared at the Hallows under their domes. He knew they needed to stop Zhu Jiu, as soon as possible, but he had absolutely no ideas on how to proceed. Shen Wei wasn't being forthcoming, either, and the rest of the SID was absolutely stumped as well.
(Passion's Wide and Shoreless Sea, 3.5.)

June
Ye Zun tugged the blanket edges closer and curled in on himself on the couch. Gege was cooking something while trying not to cry, Yunlan was fussing over him, and Ye Zun had been wrong about many, many things.
(Knocking on the Doors of Paradise, 7.6.)

July
“I can't believe you talked me into this,” Da Qing whined, leaning on his hiking poles.
(In Two Nights and a Day, 15.7.)

August
Li Qian stood beside the table with a stack of consent forms in her hands, rehearsing what she was supposed to say. She nervously glanced at the consent forms Professor Shen had insisted on, which still had all the required information, and the sampling kit. Sterile swabs, disposable gloves, felt pens for marking the sample tubes, check.
(Accidental Opportunity, 2.8.)

September
Shen Wei set his starhopper down in the purple grasses at the volcano's foot. The scans still showed breathable atmosphere, and didn't suggest the flora would have adverse effects for humans.
(shield you from the waves, 9.9.)

October
"General Vaklu," Queen Talia greeted him.
(Thought (Jet Black and Clawed), 3.10.)

November
On her third day on the job, when everyone else was out for lunch, the only thing staring at Li Qian was the faux dinosaur skull. This was important, as the lab computer account had access to Professor Ouyang's files – as well as admin rights so they could install the necessary software without calling for the IT department's help – and Li Qian was in a mood to snoop. Professor Shen had trusted her with his email passwords so she could look at the email attachments for him; it turned out that the habit was hard to break, even if Professors Ouyang and Zhou had heeded the siren call of email clients that were not terminal applications.
(A Little Black Spot on the Sun Today, 12.11.)

December
Arra Dume stared at the mound, covered in brown grass. Something stirred at the back of her mind as she gazed upon the stone pillars jutting up, tall and rectangular with slots carved out of the long edge. She didn't think she'd ever come to Dantooine before, but – there was something about the planet. Something about the grass turned brown, the blue of the sky, and the inhabitants' petty problems felt like it should mean something to her. The mound and the ruins within gave her that sensation, of unwittingly stepping on the first step of a downward staircase, with even greater intensity than the rest of Dantooine.
(We Reap What We Are Due, 7.12.)

Now, I'm doing this based on publication date, which is definitely not writing date – a lot of my output this year was exchange fic, written at one point and then published much later – but I think this is a good enough sample. When I had multiple things for the same date (assignment + treat/pinch hit, frex), I picked the one I recalled writing first. (This edged out e.g. Making a Splash and A Friend Indeed.) All months but August I wrote more than one thing. Looking at the lines ... I guess I like tossing people straight in with dialogue?
