Screencap album.
My Trooper continued her journey and collected the final two members of her squad in chapter 2! Also did military stuff.
Chapter 2's general plot is that the Empire has a new superweapon that can murder ships while they're in hyperspace: The Gauntlet. We need to assault it, for which we need an explosives expert, a tech person, and a group of elite soldiers known as the Safecrackers (IIRC) to assist us. We must gather our party before venturing forth.
Balmorra: the explosives expert, Tanno Vik, is here. He got a dishonorable discharge from the Republic military so he ran off with the Balmorran resistance and is in the process of pulling a fast one to steal some experimental weapons from the Empire when we try to recruit him. He is a complete con man and the story quest is basically to do the jobs he promised to do before he absconded with the equipment, then rushing off to the next person he screwed over. Then we get noncon inducted into his heist and have to rescue him from where the Empire interrupted his arms theft.

Quesh: the Safecrackers are pinned down in an operation on Quesh and we have to rescue them/cover them while they break out of the place they were infiltrating. That's it.
Hoth: our tech dude, Yuun, is not a con man. He is quite the weird cookie, but we have to help him recover some equipment from a crashed Republic ship first. (All the Hoth story quests are "recover this thing from a crashed Republic ship". It gets kinda repetitive.) The actual equipment is an encryption device the Imps use and thus very useful. Yuun is ... well. He's a Gand Findsman, so he puts together the weirdest clues into a conclusion and speaks very metaphorically I guess? I assumed he's Force sensitive.

The background soldiers are wearing Tarnished Demolisher's Armor!
The Gauntlet: The best chapter end level in the game. We get to fight the first wave of enemies with all the companions present, and then send two of our first three comps to assault the bridge. We ourselves get to do a section first with Yuun and then with Tanno. There are a bunch of nice mini-cutscenes where we do cool shit while our comp hacks something/places explosives! Elara (one half of my bridge assault crew, but not my LI nor my XO) got injured and spent a few missions recovering in the medbay.

Ambushing a security droid.

Squad's all here! L to R: Yuun, M1-4X, Tanno Vik, Elara Dorne, Aric Jorgan.
My general thoughts on the Trooper so far are that the Trooper's really underappreciated! Everyone shits on it for having the (second) most boring storyline in the game, but really, it's much better than the Smuggler or Jedi Knight. The "here's your quest, go do what the game tells you" thing suits a military special ops officer much better than a smuggler, so it feels much more naturalistic and less "but why would I ever do that?" (I've also played Belsavis, and that was nice, too!)
