Indeed! Dividing ourselves into groups may be human nature, but each region and culture has different groupings they would use! In Japan, it would either go the way of private tutors, schools for the children of nobility, or lessons run out of temples in towns and villages. If they did all attend the same school, it'd be divided by social class or profession, with no trace of animal mascots in sight.
