Next week will be spent with Things, and I have no extra time*, necessarily, but ... after that, I'll be free. No exchange fic to write, my 40k MDZS WIP is done and in edit-posting, and I can start a longer Guardian fic! I have three ideas I have yet to outline outside my head. I could also make some meta posts! I still need to write something about väki, or navel-gazey thoughts on my top-bottom preferences! Or make another playlist, now that a full five bands I like have released new material. (Though Beast in Black - From Hell With Love is more novelverse Shen Wei, based on my osmosis.) Do I need to make a poll? A poll of polls? IDEK. Comment on this post with a topic even vaguely fandom-y and I'll give you one comment's worth of thoughts?

* I have allocated enough time to do the rewatchalong and to write some TGE porn for the filthfest. Save that, I shall be doing glorious nothing in my free time save that one meatspace obligation.

Anyway, I have decided to make a poll with the three options I'm thinking about!

...okay, the middle option's concept is sort of hard to describe within the poll option character limit without making everyone sound OOC, but ah well. All of these, I have an idea on the start, middle, and end!

Tricky poll! The middle option sounds intriguing but also WTF, so if the WTF is resolved to satisfaction, that could be cool. Or WTF. *g* (I personally would be intimidated by writing a really long story from the POV of someone who can't see, but I have seen it done and done well.)

The last option sounds like a writer not doing themselves a favour, to me, as I like my guys interacting and suffer on a writing level when I let myself get into plots that have them apart for too long. But YMMV obviously!

There is a resolution to the WTF, in addition to a second plot thread! I suspect the resolution would go over at the very least okay, but of course I am not clairvoyant. As for the blindness, well, there are a bunch of other senses involved, and Zhao Yunlan can probably figure out people decently enough from the way they say things. The fic would probably be a bit obsessed with sounds and temperature...

The last option would include a lot of crack options, such as "Uhh, why is xiao-Guo the Lord of Dixing????" and the purpose of the exercise would be to provide Zhao Yunlan with extra insight into Shen Wei (and Ye Zun) in the form of what he might also have become, or the influences he left on the world after him. It'd definitely be less straightforwardly shippy and more characterization extravaganza.

It's also the one where I have the least idea of how to actually write it/end it! Writing about bureaucracy is not my fun place, and idk how satisfying an arc I can write if I just gloss over the bureaucratic struggles... (It would become a different story entirely, I think, and maybe not as good as it should be.)

Amaranthe, Battle Beast, Beast in Black, Delain, and Within Temptation! Delain's is just an EP, but the rest are full albums that manage to have a larger ratio of hits to misses than the bands' prior offerings. I am psyched.

(Yunlan would take selfies, give inspirational speeches, and write notes. He'd eventually have fun and give negative fucks. A vacation with lots of adorable Shen Weis!)

They (literally just today) announced the third album's release date, September 13 of this year.

"Dark On Me" from their first album is going on the Weilan playlist that I'm making for the 520 exchange (since I couldn't actually sign up for anything) and "Bringing It Down" is going on my still-being-built general Guardian playlist.

If you ever get a chance to see them live, I highly recommend doing so. They're something!
