27. What minor plot arc should have gotten another episode, and why?
Depending on how one counts "minor plot arc" – preferrably the time travel subplot, so we could see Ye Zun do something actually worth confining in a pillar for ten thousand years (and Shen Wei be all doki doki at Zhao Yunlan some more).

If that doesn't count as a minor plot arc, then I vote the An Bai throning arc. It had a decent case to it, but we could've gotten more Dixing worldbuilding without screwing up the pacing too much, maybe? Or mirror girl, that was a fun case, and we could've done with more dénouement about mirror girl's father. Maybe a flashback to him raising her, or her telling how she ended up on the surface, or what happened to her mother (or do Dixingians reproduce via mpreg?) Actually, let's change my answer to mirror girl, that'd be better-served by more time, I think.

(As for what gets sacrificed: Da Ji. Sorry, but you were annoying and your attachment to the Merit Brush stuff minimal!)

I'm all for more Dixing worldbuilding, but yes, mirror girl is a great idea for more time. Her attempt at attacking ZYL was rather unfortunate; she was obviously not good at hurting people, but it caused Shen Wei to lose all sympathy for her and deport her to Dixing, a place she'd never even been, rather than letting her go as he freed multiple actual murderers throughout the series. She's one of the most innocuous criminals in the entire drama; her only victim, as such, was the girl who agreed to switch places with her and then went back on the deal. But, she swung at Zhao Yunlan, so she had to go.

(I still don't see how the Da Ji episode added anything besides backstory for Da Qing we could have gotten in a multitude of less annoying ways. The taxi-stealing businessman could have been knocked off by Wang Xiangyang in five seconds, or been the guy who drinks poison in the hospital video game ep.)

Yup! If she'd only projectile cried, or shaken Ji Xiaobai, it'd have ended in a much better albeit more complicated fashion. IIRC Zhao Yunlan and the Envoy had already agreed only the criminals had to go, so they'd have had to go through the repercussions of that decision and the two Zhou Weiweis.
