I've been doing some yin yoga before bed at ratbones's recommendation so I could, y'know, actually fall asleep. Last night, I clicked about on the yoga video channel's next video that was marked with "relaxation". Okay, it's apparently a crown chakra guided meditation instead of a yoga movements thingy? Okay, sure, whatever, let's do this out of curiosity. The video contained some affirmations and asked to repeat after, which was a bit woo, but sure, why not. Then we were asked to come up with our own affirmations, and...

brain: I am infinite and boundless (one of the example affirmations)
brain: I am capable of learning
brain: I am the goose that honks at god!
me: wtf brain, I'm an atheist
brain: Honk.

...and then I cracked up and had a good belly laugh. *g* What do you mean, it's obvious that honking geese are my current special interest?

I have a couple of ASMR videos that I listen to that have affirmations, and occasionally I find myself arguing with them.

ASMR: All the cells of my body are filled with health and vitality!
Brain: they would also like to sleep now, thank you

But now that you mention it, defiant honking might be a more satisfying response.

Oh, yeah, me too. I can't love everyone who exists; most people I will never encounter and that means I can't make the decision to love them, and also Donald Trump exists, yoga video! (It's on occasion hilarious how HDU the brain gets.)
