extrapenguin: Woman in pre-Tang Dynasty official's garb reads officially. (xia dong reads)
Guardian Episode by Episode: 09 is now up, two days early because Easter is a Thing and I'm taking the opportunity to sod off to the forest. Episode 10 will be late by a day or two, next weekend, because I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anything done at home next week's evenings.

Before I leave town, I still have to finish the first draft of the MDZS WIP of doom. I only have 1-2k's worth of scene to go before I get to what might actually be the final line of the fic. 39.5k of stuff already exists. After Easter, I'll have to reread all 40k (a novel!) of it, patch up continuity stuff, fill in the [concluding paragraph] etc looseish ends, and make sure I haven't dropped any threads midway. After that, I can start the final SPAG reread and post as I go with that. Maybe one chapter of ~4k a week, starting in May. Then I can be done!

520 Ex assignment has an initial scene, an outline, and some ideas on the rest. I'll tackle that after I finish the WIP but before the patch-up reread.

Guardian icon battle round 2 (eps 11-20) is ongoing. I counted and I'll get rewatchalong screencaps of up to episode 13 before the deadline, so I've started my independent screengrabbing from the rear end. I had nice caps for 20 and 19 already, and got an excellent one for 18. All have been iconized. I'll do 17-14 after I come back.

In other news, I found a take on Yu Ziyuan I whole-heartedly agree with. Despite bouncing off Liu Yao and Guardian the novel, I'm enjoying Priest's Sha Po Lang (and if you read in an incognito window, Wattpad will let you read logged out!). I hate roughly 99% of criticism leveled at Guardian the webdrama, and always half feel like writing a post about how Your Basis Of Criticism Is Wrong And You Should Stop, but then I always get bored and go do something more interesting instead. (Same with the Your Take On Yu Ziyuan Is Wrong And You Should Stop urges.)

Last year I somehow managed to screw up my taxes so that I paid much too much (despite my autogenerated tax card???), so I'm getting almost 2k back in the autumn! I'm still deciding what to do with it – besides save up most of it, I'm not really one for materialism or consumerism – but I realized I might as well buy some books now, since I have a regular salary. One I'm eyeing is An Anthology of Chinese Literature: Beginnings to 1911 as recommended by chinese-poems, but it's a teensy bit pricey, so I'm wavering. Definitely going to take the opportunity to catch up with some series and recs waylaid in the hassle – Revenant Gun is on the list, and I might buy some Murderbot, Monstress graphic novels (liked #1 when I read it as part of the Hugo Voter Packet year before last, might as well continue if the price isn't too heart-stabbing), and Emmi Itäranta's next book Kudottujen kujien kaupunki, plus maybe the Baru Cormorant sequel. IDK. I don't have as much time to read physical books as when I was younger, and I like y'all and ficwriting too much to get off my computer, oops. I do have a bunch of books in my to-read pile that I should conquer, too...
