Date: 2020-07-26 11:56 (UTC)Of course it is. We're just inured to it. (But then, people also don't seem to care about propaganda for the Chinese state in cdramas, so... maybe a lot of people really don't see it.)

Date: 2020-07-26 12:20 (UTC)That's not my experience at all in larger fandom - people (Americans) are completely willing to think that BL cnovels are a Chinese psyop and such, while they are completely blind to US military propaganda. Cdrama fans are the ones who're willing to look past it to be fannish about the thing.
(Also, I think the type of propaganda is slightly different, so e.g. I find the messages from the censor's office in Guardian easier to just roll my eyes at than the whole MCU military extravaganza.)
