In honor of today's [community profile] snowflake_challenge being to talk about a fannish project you're currently doing:

Remember my vidding resolution to complete my [community profile] vid_bingo card? I am currently procrastinating on clipping for my character study vid, and thus went through and dl'd all the Sheng Wei x Ai Ye filmograpy I listed here plus the new one [personal profile] douqi subtitled on [community profile] baihe_media. I also installed cleancredits and ran it! I couldn't get the mask maker GUI to show up, so I made my own with GIMP – for the first pass I'm just getting rid of the bilibili logo in the corner. The hardsubs I can clip around, zoom around, or do on a later pass. My current issue is that I am bad at making masks. I cropped out the built-in letterbox of the test footage and even then, the logo is ... well, the pixel interpolation left the end result a bit blobby. Ah well. At least it's less noticeable than the original logo.

(Unexpected bonus of the built-in letterboxing: For three of the source short films, the logo is wholly on the black letterbox and I can easily crop it out! For one of them, the hardsubs are also in the letterbox! \o/)

Also I've taken a look at the Wikipedia lists of science fiction films released by decade from 2000 onwards to see if there's anything a) made in Europe b) starring a woman c) I might want to watch and vid. This is me preparing for the Eurovision show of [community profile] vidukon_cardiff. Why do I love homework so much.

Things which should have interesting visuals:
Aniara
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Gravity
Cargo

Other things I might at least not insta-hate based on the summary:
Immortal
Hell
What Happened to Monday
Morgan
W (I feel like I should watch this just because it's Finnish)
The Girl With All the Gifts

If you know any of the above is good, bad, or extremely (un)viddable, please tell.

([community profile] space_swap schedule tomorrow.)
