I have acquired a new laptop! My old one is a Dell Latitude 3340 that has a terribad keyboard and thinks every day should be talk like a pirate day (there are a few keys that are liable to produce anywhere from 1 to 3 letters when pressed; r is the most likely culprit). The new one is a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad T460 that I've yet to install a Linux on. The current laptop's hostname is Altair – should I call my new laptop Altair as well, or name it after a different IAU-approved star name? (For reference, my desktop is called Aldebaran and my phone Alrakis.)

I applaud your selection of choices! It's going to be hard to rival Altair, but even outside of my current favorite TV show, I have to give Algol props for being one of the first true variable stars. ♥

Although if it was going to be a development machine, Algol would be apt as a nod to one of the earliest (and most rigorously-defined) programming languages.

No dev stuff! Just a mobile internet+ficwriting thing that can connect to projectors for presentation-giving.
