Long time no see! Summer melts all my brain cells. Can I return all this heat plz?

Phos'kara screencap album.

Chapter two plot: We have eliminated Darth Baras's loose threads and gotten Nomen Karr out of the way! Now, it is time to help Darth Baras and his master, Darth Vengean, in their quest to restart the war with the Republic. The quests are basically to kill a bunch of generals who form the War Trust, an elite council of the Republic military. Four of them are on Taris, one on Quesh, and then we have to clean up a Jedi on Hoth.

Taris was ... not as good as Knight Taris, imo, but it's hard to be that good. Some similar aspects of identity foolery, though, with the Rodian General asking some random Rodian soldier to impersonate him while he can hang out in the fallout shelter and make the facility blow up radioactively. There was a nice bit at the end where we got to pick who went with us to confront the final general and assigned everyone else stuff to do as well! I picked Jaesa, since she was the second-newest companion, I hadn't gotten 1k kills with her yet, and didn't vibe with Pierce. It went okay!

Then we got to Quesh, where Darth Vengean's flagship was under attack, and we went to save him but it was too late. We hopped down to the planet with its final General, who was all "Actually, this is all part of Darth Baras's plot to take down his master so he can get promoted" and, well, Sith business as usual. I was most baffled by something actually happening on Quesh.

I've only been doing class and planetary quests, with the exception of this one on Quesh. Solely due to the "walking away from an explosion" cutscene.

I think somewhere in here we were sent to Darth Vengean's chambers to kill him with the aid of another apprentice of Baras's, this one pretending to be an apprentice of Vengean's. A fun excursion. The Warrior has a lot of them!

Finally came Hoth. Interestingly enough, the companions had opinions about who to take! Vette and Quinn were allergic to the cold, so I grabbed Pierce to see what he was about. Opinions on him come later. Tracking down the Jedi was perhaps the most basic bit of the chapter, even if it was mixed in with a recruitment mission for a Talz by the name of Broonmark. The Jedi worked with a band of Talz, and Broonmark wanted to kill those Talz for honor or something. He is DS and frontline muscle. As I am LS and also frontline muscle (tanking ftw!) he's a bad fit and also reduntant, but whatever. The ending has Jedi again – our trackee of a Jedi came to find his lost-and-presumed-dead Master, who's been alive all these years beneath the ice! The Master offers a choice of leaving the two of them there and collapsing the cave after them so the Master can teach his old padawan his Hoth survival skillz. Phos'kara, well on her way to Light V, took it. Broonmark disapproved but whatever.

Sometimes I just take screenshots of my characters for the sake of it.

Then we returned to Quesh for the thrilling conclusion of the chapter! Our mission was to assist the Quesh people by stopping Republic operatives from blowing up their base via a tunnel network ... except that this was actually Darth Baras assassinating us. Oops! Now, I was spoiled for the Warrior having to fight Darth Baras at some point, and the fact you become the Emperor's Wrath, but I'd imagined that that would happen later, with Baras getting at you on Corellia and the Wrath thing being the "congrats, here's your medal!" thing. But it happened already after Hoth! And Quesh had stuff actually happen on it!

Anyway, short version is that you live, and two Sith dudes turn up to offer you a post as the Emperor's Wrath. Baras is claiming to be the Emperor's Voice, since the real Voice (Vitiate or Vitiate's body) has been silent, and now he's on the Dark Council. Thus we must stop him! Revenge, but with job perks. Nice. Thus starts chapter three, murder of all Baras stands for.

I talked about Vette and Malavai in the previous post, and Jaesa a bit, but now I have more on Jaesa so I'll talk about her as well:

Jaesa Willsaam (LS ver): Mostly my impression is that she's Ashara, but whiny. Not into the voice direction here. Let's reform the Empire, just like Ashara, except that she's mostly focused on that instead of having a second plot about "am I a Jedi???" going on, and is much more effective due to her "sense the true intentions of people" power. I think she's okay. I think I prefer Quinn, not sure about Jaesa vs Vette.

Pierce: Black ops soldier who's the token DS "victory at any costs" dude. Sort of a mirror to Quinn, in that he's the honor-loyalty to the Empire LS soldier and Pierce is the DS counterpart. Not that deep? Mostly I'm unenthused about him. Some level of love interest, and he has some hilarious jealousy dialogues about Quinn. As he's uninspiring in character and bulky in body, I have left him unboinked.

Broonmark: Murderous Talz. Likes killing stuff. I admit he's probably deeper if you bring him along places, but he's my least favorite companion, hampered by speaking gibberish (so you have to turn on the text log chat to see what he said), and he's pretty much a blood knight. Of the other final companions I've so far experienced (Xalek, Scourge, Scorpio, Guss), I think he's got the least going for him.

Oh, but speaking about romance, I think I managed to get the Quinn romance going? Determined flirting meant that after being all "but no, I cannot, I am distracted by your existence, please send me far away!" he went basically "I should not but I see you and am OVERCOME with PASSION!" and pulled the Sith Lord he's working for into a kiss. Like. Peak romance novel love interest right there! It's amusing. Let's see how this progresses.
