Back on May the 4th, I had a hilarious dream that would make for excellent crackfic. Then I spent the next month writing it (finished ~16th of June), realized it was significantly less crack and more sincere than I'd expected, asked my beta to take a look, sat on the edits for another month, and today posted the first chapter:

The Second Battle of Felucia has just started, but Anakin's already been derailed by a lucky shot to his hyperdrive. Now, he is stuck on a vector to Sith space and has to land to make repairs. Unfortunately he seems to have picked up more than spare parts on his detour...

The end result will be about 25k long. (My word processor has different opinions on what is a word than AO3 has.) Have fun.

The other thing I wanted to post about is that when I write, I generally have a song on infinite loop. For the above fic, it was Wolfie's Just Fine - Trying to Sleep, a homage to a 90s B horror movie that is also a Dune ripoff. For another (unpublished) fic, it's The Only Thing They Fear Is You (Doom Eternal OST), which is even more incogruous with the fic I wrote, but oh well.

when I write, I generally have a song on infinite loop.
This kind of horrifies me, but now I'm also curious about its effects on writing, and how a fic etc. would turn out different with a different song...

If it helps, I had a blast writing R2-D2 and his relationship with Anakin!

I mostly want the outside world taken away, but the music can't be too attention-grabby, and the infinite loop is very good for that – as well as keeping the "mood" constant.
