...you know, I generally prefer to focus on stuff I like and thus ignore/forget/let go the stuff I don't, so I don't have any concrete examples. Instead, I shall tell you the tale of a category: canon het. I distinctly recall reading a bunch of MilSF and then wanting to toss the book at the wall because the canon het ranged from rage-inducing (Honor Harrington) to boring (one of the Serrano books).
Canon gay is less likely to happen, and some tropes I dislike I dislike due to their gendered nature. I can dislike canon gay – I ended up disliking the main ship in MDZS due to not sharing the author's id at all – but it seems it happens less frequently. And the sheer "yay gay" factor can cover a number of flaws.
