OTW Elections: Harassment is bad!

Obviously, if someone did contact her workplace, then that's not okay, but all I saw or heard about was people going "don't vote for her, she ran for Congress as a Republican" which should obviously be allowed as it's related to discussion of her policy statements and experience stated in her profile. More importantly, where was this statement last year, when Tiffany G was to the best of my knowledge getting much greater vitriol thrown at/about her than the stuff people are saying about Audrey?

(Full disclosure: To the best of my knowledge, I'm the first person who found this. I immediately went to FFA to share this, as I judged that was the greatest audience of OTW voters I had. My goal was simply to make sure she didn't get elected for Board, but I am crying no tears about her withdrawal from candidacy or the organization.)

Within the org, there were a lot of complaints and calls for a statement, along the lines of, "First Tiffany and now Audrey, Elections must support the volunteers that put themselves forward under their real names as required for board candidacy, it's the right thing to do and nobody's going to run in the future unless things improve," so I'm glad they are trying to learn and improve. The structural racism runs deep in OTW, I think that's obvious and unavoidable, but to me (possibly because I have more information, from the in-org discussion groups) this is not evidence of racism but a belated realization that this is another way in which they have not done right by their volunteers, and need to change.

I understand the desire (and need) to put out a statement, but the fact that they almost immediately put out a statement for Audrey and didn't ever for Tiffany, coupled with the fact that the statement doesn't seem to include a proper sentence about people having the right to publicly disagree with a candidate, left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't know there was an internal push for a statement, though I suppose that's wholly unsurprising.
