My chosen method of procrastination this week has been watching video essays. Here's some highlights.

Nil Nilgiree, a fairly new channel with a few videos, the stand-out of which is: The Dark Reality of Japanese Host Clubs. Hopefully there'll be more equivalently deep-dive content in the future.

Moon Channel, a lawyer mostly(?) dealing with law and video games, like the legality of emulators, though he's branched out into other video game related topics, like why are there no good girls' games, and my favorites, the 1h+ deep cultural dives that are motivated by video games: Why Do You Always Kill Gods in JRPGs?, plus a two-parter on Gacha Drama and the Korean Gender War: part 1, part 2

Lily Alexandre, who I've just discovered but who has this interesting video: The Feminist to Far-Right Pipeline (spoiler: class is involved!)

aini, who does some East Asian cultural stuff I've liked, recently released this one: Bullying in East Asia Is Not What You Think

Tara Mooknee I've linked to earlier (Heterofatalism), but her other long videos are definitely worth it, like this one: The media's obsession with the Royal Family is SO. VERY. WEIRD.

Anyway, Nocturna just released a new album, so I'm off to listen to that and idk sleep ig

Gosh, all these sound *fascinating* and well worth ... reading about. I'd like to see a text version of Moon Channel's stuff in particular.
