[This post relates to the Star Wars franchise. I have not watched any of the movies and do not inted to do so.]

So, after an experience of KOTOR tragically cut short by the unavailability of a Windows machine (I recruited 7/9 companions and did the Sith Academy planet and was futzing about underwater on the ocean planet), I have recently been playing KOTOR 2, with the Restored Content mod.

Firstly: boy is a lot of it buggy.

Secondly: I miss Juhani.

Most importantly: I like it! It's a nice game with nice things. I'm playing General Lady Light Side, Light-Sidiest of All, name Vanna Draconis. SPOILERS ahead.

The (skippable) prologue sequence was very nice, and I don't think I'll be skipping it on any subsequent playthrough, since there's at least one bonus thing involving controlling a second droid that I didn't do.

After that, we end up on Peragus, an asteroid mining station thing where there are like three things alive: Vanna (suspended in a kolto tank, lacking clothes – though the underwear is more tank top and boy shorts than bikini, thankfully), Kreia (pretending to be dead or something), and Atton (stuck in a cell), in addition to T3 the droid. Kreia gives much-needed instruction on the Force, and Atton is a sexist asshole who laments the moment I discover clothing. I mean, he's also useful in the Peragus bit, but also an asshole who makes sexist comments. The intro planet was better done than KOTOR's Taris, mainly due to being shorter and in a way more linear, and the bits where I was controlling T3 were nice. Anyway, an assassin droid was behind the murderation of EVERY OTHER OCCUPANT, so there's a bossfight. Also, a Sith Lord docks his ship onto the station, and there's a sequence upon that ship and then crawling around through a fuel line while Kreia fights the Sith Lord who might've been her padawan once upon a time. She loses her arm because she employs the shitty tactic of NOT stabbing Shit Lord in the back. After a joyful reunion with T3, we unlock the Ebon Hawk and fly off. Kreia teleports onto the ship, as do Sith Assassins we have to stab. The Sith, in pursuing us, destroy the valuable Peragus Asteroid Field. (The Sith. The SITH, as in NOT ME, TELOS AUTHORITIES. I DIDN'T DO IT.)

I chat with Kreia and discover she's an edgelord. Sigh.

Anyway, we arrive at Telos on Citadel Station (lol), a space station above the Sith-bombarded planet of Telos that is currently being restored. We're all put under arrest on suspicion of having destroyed the Peragus Asteroid Field (I DIDN'T DO IT), then some dude tries to murderate us but we kill him and expose him for a fraud who's impersonating a security officer. We're freed, but someone stole the Ebon Hawk and T3 who was stored there due to security reasons. (No, Atton, T3 didn't take the ship for a joyride 'round the galaxy. Sigh.) I help the Ithorians seize back control of their restoration zones from the evil Czerka corporation by murderating both of the local Exchange bosses (galactic crime gang that was hired by Czerka to intimidate the Ithorians) and releasing unsavory information about Czerka's workings to the authorities. Also, a funny discussion in this video around 10:10:

The Ithorians then gave me access to their shuttle, since my ship was on the planet and I had to get there, but just before I was leaving their compound was attacked, so I had to save their asses again. That done, I went to the surface – and my shuttle was shot down by mercs, yay. Who the hell hired EVERY GODDAMN BOUNTY HUNTER IN THE GALAXY to hunt my ass? Ugh.

Pack #1 of mercs dealt with, we meet Bao-Dur, a kindly alien engineer who served with me in the Mandalorian wars. This is where stuff gets interesting, since I get to decide what Vanna's motivations for the past are. I go with "Vanna believes that indifference closes the gates of Light" and a desire to stop people from getting hurt. (Kreia, edgelord that she is, believes that ~conflict and suffering~ make people strong.) I like Jedi support, so Kreia gets to stay in the party, but I say bye-bye to Atton and take Bao-Dur with his force-field-destroying arm and shooty pew pew laser floaty droidball remote. Then, we go take on the Czerka compound and murderate all the mercs there. I discover that I'm a veritable tank!

After discovering that there's a super secret hidden containment field on a polar mesa, we go find a shuttle from the military base's underground levels. The bots have been let loose and there's poison everywhere, but I manage to turn off the poison pits and kill all the bots. We come across a Twi'Lek Czerka employee who is TOO DUMB TO LIVE (how hard can following me run in a straight line be????) but we do eventually manage to shepherd him to the door. Then, we take that shuttle. Which gets shot down by three of the assassin bots of the type encountered on Peragus. I'm ... not all that good for shuttles, oops. Anyway, the mesa's got a Jedi Academy with no students, run by one of the Elders who exiled Vanna, and a bunch of Force-immune Echani women. Lots of backstory discussion happens, and we get T3 and the Ebon Hawk back, and then sod off. I restrained my kleptomaniac tendencies and didn't loot a single plasteel cylinder, someone give me an award.

Now, there were four choices of planet to go to next: Nar Shaddaa, Dantooine, X and Y. (Sorry, can't remember the names of the last two. One might've been Korriban?) Now, Nar Shaddaa the criminal hellhole sounded like the least appealing locale, so I started with that. Oh, and I also got a cutscene on Vanna's exile. Apparently there was a ~mysterious reason~ for Vanna's exile that they couldn't tell her for fear of Revan strengthening.

Traveling, I discovered that Kreia is a dreadful edgelord – like, I wouldn't be surprised if she got kicked out of the Sith for excess edginess – who thinks that being kind to people is bad for them because then they won't become STRONG FROM SUFFERING. Atton is still sexist, but also has a crush on Vanna. (Where are the dialogue options for stomping on his sense of self-worth, Obsidian. Where.) Oh, and he was also working for the Sith as a Jedi killer. Eurgh. Bao-Dur is a very nice guy who followed a similarish trajectory to Vanna after the war and is a quiet, thoughtful sort. T3 is T3.

Nar Shaddaa, I've been doing makework-type Light Side stuff. I defeated the slavers, and was immediately confronted with Visas the OP Sith. I'm reeeally glad she was terrible at following me around corners, letting me heal up and set up mines. She, well, I spoke to her about redemption and she joined my party! Success: I can now run with Visas and Bao-Dur and avoid all the Kreia-and-Atton edge-and-misogyny. Also, I got my lightsaber! It's a dual blade and currently green, though I desire to make it purple or blue. Next up is figuring out who the hell Goto is and how to convince him to stahp interfering with the Hutt's fuel shipments so that Telos can get fuel.
