The plot against Mu Nihuang is halted by Jing! Prince Yu shows off his political acumen; based on this and some other events I think he's better at playing the game than the Crown Prince is. Or, at the very least, Qin Banruo is a better advisor than the Marquis Ning.

Baili Qi being a plant by Mei Changsu was very !!!! but did make sense for a master of plotting to do. And Mu Nihuang seeing through the sword technique was appealing. She and Prince Jing now know that Meng Zhi is in league with Mei Changsu! Prince Jing's throwing his principles at MCS was nice, but somehow the discussion about Tingsheng leaves me wondering whether Tingsheng's got a deeper secret, other than his father's identity.

Xia Dong's arriving back was nice, as was her ass-kicking and her interrogation. I'd be 100% down for something about her investigating a case. Speaking of the case, I hope the case against ...Minister Qi??? gets some more screentime; it was handed to Prince Jing, so it might. Let's hope Jing uncovers justice.

Did MCS really just randomly buy a house with ANOTHER huge case hidden in it? Or was it related to Tingsheng's secret? This case seems to be the current narrative focus, so something'll probs come out of it – and Prince Yu seems to be handling it better, sending Qin Banruo to convince the investigator guy to push it upstairs to someone who's almost certainly Prince Yu's guy but will not have to bend and break to any princely demands.

MCS buys the house Meng Zhi suggested, and the scene in the courtyard between them was VERY SHIPPY. The hints that Qin Banruo is something more than she seems are intriguing. Poor Jingrui, discovering that his father's been plotting against his friend and houseguest. (Jingrui knows that MCS is MCS, no? But not the "let's put Prince Jing on the throne!" thing.) Mr. Shinsan is likely a loyal family retainer of the Lin family.

Getting a bit better at distinguishing people, but there's a guy I guess is the Marquis Ning and a guy who looks EXACTLY LIKE HIM, and I am annoyed. At least they had the courtesy of appearing onscreen at the same time.

Oh yes, Prince Yu is definitely an order of magnitude better at political games than the Crown Prince. It will become even more obvious later. Though Qin Banruo also plays a role.

We never find out just how Mei Changsu knew about the bodies in the old well (or if he didn't and it really was just coincidence.) Maybe it's explained in the novel the show is based on.
