I really, really hate searching for information on the internet. (See: a geography assignment on finding climate, endo- and exogenic activity, vegetation and risks on five different locations. ... A page on each. Plus sources. Gah.) I much prefer leafing through a book (or better, reading it) for interesting/relevant data.

Actually, the internet causes a certain amount of ADD in me. I can only truly concentrate when reading something voluntarily (say, a fic on AO3) and even then I tend to prefer short stuff.

Meanwhile in dead tree land, narrowing my concentration down into the book is easy. Skimming is harder and truly reading what's written is easier. In part, I think this is because while on my laptop, I'm effectively constrained into one position; while reading a book, I can twist into whatever position I want. (I prefer to read whilst lying on my side. YMMV.) (I've also noticed that at work, where I code standing up, I have a tendency to hold impromptu dance performances without realizing. Whoops.)

In other news: I have brought out my oil colors! If I manage to actually do something with them, I'll post a smartphone picture here.

*Opening* the books in dead-tree land is tough for me, while opening new browser pages is easy--no commitment, right? So it's really a balance between getting the information in front of my eyes and actually getting it INTO my brain.

I really want to see this impromptu dance party of yours. :)
