space_swap nominations are ongoing! They'll end on the 3rd of Feb. I have nommed four fandoms myself, and am steadily approving others' noms. Next batch will be tomorrow, I think.I subbed another fanvid a few days back! 闲云志 Record of Idle Clouds; again Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen. Less depressing than most. I've also now read up to ch 108 of a translation, and I have to say, I was spoiled for all/most of the relationship beats, but somehow the execution and context makes them infinitely worse and less convincing romance beats. Bleh. I'll continue my ways of not shipping Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian.

Date: 2019-01-27 11:54 (UTC)How I feel about this character: I love him! He's a prickly woobie-ish mess and I just want him to fix himself and repair his relationship with gege.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: in Guardian: Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan. Ye Zun's intentions towards gege are ... not exactly familial, partly because he's a mess, and anything that gege has (e.g. Zhao Yunlan), Ye Zun wants as well.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Shen Wei & Ye Zun. Ye Zun & therapy.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Only really unpopular in certain circles, but: that manipulation is a mask he's built for himself, and if given the opportunity to heal, he wouldn't wear it. (I also like how he's a sympathetic albeit messed-up villain with a tragic backstory! Some people prefer their villains to be of the sexy badtouch kind, but I like Ye Zun as he is.)
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I really wish he could've mended his relationship with his brother earlier, before they both died. I also wish Zhao Yunlan had gone full-on "so, why are you doing this?" in/before ep 20 to give Ye Zun that moment of someone actually giving a fuck about him for his sake.

OTPOT3: Zhao Yunlan/Shen Wei/Ye Zunmy cross over ship: Wei Wuxian/Ye Zun! Wei Wuxian will go "I'd die for you!" for pretty much anyone he's known for over 5 seconds, and Ye Zun would appreciate this. On the other side, Ye Zun would hit the clingy didi bit Wei Wuxian would miss if transported to the present, and would I think actually go well with Wei Wuxian if given a chance to travel with him.
a headcanon fact: Deep inside, Ye Zun is terrified. Hence the mask, the performance of megalomania, and betraying everyone else before they can betray him.

stealing his gege. This makes me wonder if things would have gone differently if Zhao Yunlan wasn't there and Ye Zun didn't see Shen Wei caring for someone else... Probably not much different, the fear and sense of betrayal runs deeper than that. But yes, I wish there was a better redemption arc for Ye Zun.no subject
