Star Wars Prequel Trilogy Smushnames: My Opinions

Codywan: While I'm meh about the ship, the smushname has a nice cadence.

Rexsoka: Kind of blunt, but they don't really have a better option.

Obitine: I am always very sad that the -tine comes from Satine Kryze rather than Sheev Palpatine, but I accept that the shippers didn't have a better option. Even I will admit Sati-Wan doesn't have a ring to it.

Quiobi: This one's just boring. May I suggest swapping to Obijinn instead?

Anidala: The shippers are cowards who refuse to accept that their ship's true smushname is Animé.

Obidala: The smushname is like the cheap knockoff of the above, with inferior flow, and even the true alternative of Obimé doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Obikin: Somehow, the shippers have settled on the absolute worst smushname they could have created. Every time I see Obikin I have a moment of dread as I think this is about fictionkin and the person speaking believes they are Obi-Wan Kenobi on the astral plane. Relics of the past (pre-2006) have informed me that this ship used to be known as Aniobi, which is much less objectionable. Perhaps we stand at the ruins of a top/bottom shipwar. In any case, no-one seems to have used the most superior of variants: Ani-Wan.

As an addendum to your last point, every time I hear someone talk about Vaderkin I hate everything. Especially since the other meaning usually still makes sense in context.

Same! Except my brain has been conditioned by Obikin for long enough that my second guess is Vader/Anakin, and they generally do not mean that either.

And Tarkin is obviously the smushname for Tar'eelok/Anakin, a classic time travel romance.

Your suggestion would also solve the ‘is this Quinlan Vos/Obi-Wan Kenobi’ issue bc despite being a much smaller pairing my brain always comes up with it first

It would solve that as well! What's the Quinlan/Obi-Wan smushname anyway – Quinobi? Obiquin? I don't think it'd be Obilan or anything that doesn't use Quinlan's Q, but I don't think I've seen the ship enough to recall the smushname.

Instead of Obitine, which sounds like something I'd refuse to drink, or even Satiwan, I would like to propose Krynobi. (Or Kryznobi, for a more equitable split.)

Obitine does have some major Listerine vibes... Krynobi sounds better, but the problem there is that there is more than one Kryze in canon. Though I don't think Bo-Katan Kryze/Obi-Wan Kenobi is a common ship, nor Korkie Kryze/Obi-Wan, and Bo-Katan/Obi-Wan at least has more potential for a non-cringey smushname.
